Isaiah 117 House

Can you imagine being forced to leave your home and family for your own safety, but the only place you can stay is an office conference room with no windows?

This is how foster care begins for many children. This is a reality right here in McLennan County!

What if there was a home?

The mission of the Isaiah 117 House is to provide a comforting, welcoming environment to love on kiddos on one of the hardest days of their lives. We want to come alongside their caseworkers to help them know they are loved. That way, when a child is removed from their home, the Department of Children’s Services will make the decision whether or not to bring them to the Isaiah 117 House to wait for placement. The case worker will always be present at the home with the child, which gives us the opportunity to care for the often overworked and under appreciated caseworkers as well!

Where is this home?

What began in a small town in Tennessee is now spreading across the US and even to other countries! As of right now, we do not have a home here in McLennan County but our goal is to build or renovate one soon. We would love our Isaiah 117 House conveniently located to the Department of Children’s Services office (in downtown Waco – preferably within 10 minutes’ drive). We are looking for a home that is about 1600-2000 square feet with about an acre of land.

Who lives and works at this home?

There is not a permanent resident of the Isaiah 117 House; it’s not a foster placement for children. The Program Coordinators (either 1 full-time or 2 part-time employees) manage the home and work out of the home during their office hours. The house will also need plenty of volunteers to operate:

  • Caregiving Volunteers will be in the house with the children are required to go through their state’s required volunteer training (Trauma Informed Care Training, background checks and fingerprints). These volunteers are also trained in the home by Isaiah 117 House.

  • Support Volunteers will be helping maintain the house, organizing donations, cleaning, yard work, etc.
