How can YOU get involved with foster care?

Attend an online informational meeting

Check out the next page (Babysitting & Respite) for information on becoming a babysitter for children in foster care

Volunteer with Isaiah 117 House!

The mission of Isaiah 117 House is to care for children awaiting foster placement.

It is based on the scripture Isaiah 1:17, "defend the cause of the fatherless."

There are many ways you can get involved. Start by attending our next local meeting (every 2nd Sunday at StartUp Waco). Fill out the contact form for more info here. Follow Isaiah 117 House McLennan County,TX on Facebook or Instagram too!

Mentor youth in your community

When children age out of foster care at 18, roughly half of them will experience homelessness. Every year nearly 85,000 young adults 18-24 are added to the already growing 2 million homeless young adults living on our streets, in our shelters and in dangerous situations because they aren’t connected to a stable, caring family. Become a mentor to these young men and women to stop the cycle of poverty awaiting them.

Although it isn't an overnight shelter, it is a safe place for homeless youth to go after school to do homework, take a shower or just hang out

Becoming a Mentoring Family for a young adult who has no one is what we call “stepping into their story.” It’s simple; it’s relationship.

Build healthy relationships with young people eager for adult guidance: help with homework, coach a sport, advocate for their needs.
